The countdown has begun. Only six shows remain on the Farewell Tour 2025 for two-time Latin Grammy winners Elida Reyna Y Avante, as beloved frontwoman Elida Reyna prepares to retire from touring after more than three decades at the forefront of Tejano music.
Earlier this year, Reyna shared the reasons behind her decision in a heartfelt interview with KIII 3 News anchor and Domingo Live host Barbi Leo, reflecting on a remarkable 34-year career. “I just thought it was time,” she shared. “I’ve had an amazing career — 34 years, over 40 awards, two Grammys. I feel like I’ve pretty much done it all… I’m happy. I’m content. And now it’s time to spend time with my family.”
The “Luna Llena” singer revealed that her father was recently diagnosed with dementia, a deeply personal reason for stepping away from the fast-paced life of a touring artist. Along with a spiritual awakening — Reyna was baptized last year and saved two years ago — she says her heart and priorities have transformed. “My passion right now is serving the Lord. I’m not the same person anymore. I don’t want to be glorified on stage — I want to glorify God.”
Elida’s journey is one of perseverance and groundbreaking achievement. She rose to fame in a male-dominated Tejano industry, overcoming skepticism and bias with tenacity, resilience, and undeniable talent. Though she is leaving the road behind, she isn’t closing the chapter on music completely. Reyna is currently in the studio finishing her final album and working on her first-ever Christian song — something she never imagined earlier in her career.
“If you had told me years ago I’d be recording Christian music, I wouldn’t have believed you. But now, I would love to.”
