Tejano music legend Gary Hobbs has unveiled the official music video for his latest single, “Soy Libre”, now streaming on the Freddie Records YouTube channel. The upbeat ranchera serves as the lead single and title track from Hobbs’ second album with the iconic label, released in May.
Written by Latin Grammy-winning songwriter and artist Juan Treviño, the track carries the pedigree of a hitmaker whose credits include classics for Jimmy Gonzalez Y Grupo Mazz, Elida Reyna Y Avante, David Lee Garza Y Los Musicales, and more. Production duties were handled by Hobbs himself alongside renowned keyboardist Hector Gutierrez, with recording taking place at the celebrated Legends Sound Studios in Corpus Christi, Texas.
“Soy Libre” blends a hook-filled melody with a driving, dance-ready beat, elevated by a layered brass section, a rock-solid rhythm from Hobbs’ band The Usual Suspects, and a standout vocal performance from the Tejano icon. The result is a track that perfectly balances tradition with contemporary energy, destined to keep fans on the dance floor.
The music video, filmed in Las Vegas, Nevada, and San Antonio, Texas, offers an engaging visual experience featuring live performance footage and additional scenes that capture the song’s spirited vibe. Directed by Diana Hobbs and filmed/produced by MikeShotIt (aka Michael Salgado, Jr.), the video brings “Soy Libre” to life in a dynamic and visually striking way.
With its irresistible rhythm and vibrant visuals, “Soy Libre” marks another high point in Gary Hobbs’ storied career, reaffirming his status as one of Tejano’s most enduring and innovative voices.
