SAN ANTONIO, TX — Ray Ray, fresh off his 2024 induction into the Tejano ROOTS Hall of Fame, has released a powerful and heartfelt mariachi single, “Como una Visión”, blending the elegance of tradition with a fresh, modern approach.
Although Ray Ray has been singing mariachi music since the age of nine, this marks the first time in his celebrated career that he has recorded a mariachi song. “Since I was 9 years old, I sang mariachi music, but this is the first time I actually recorded a mariachi song in my musical career,” he told Tejano Nation. “I am humbled by the feedback I’m receiving from my fans and peers saying I found my niche. This song is trio-inspired, bringing me back to my roots, and it felt so right. I sang this song with so much feeling and passion, and I can tell everyone felt that.”
Originally written by Adrián Flores Albán and first recorded by Trio Los Tres Reyes, Ray Ray’s rendition was produced by Tejano ROOTS Hall of Famer Severo “Sevy” Contreras at Slackmonster Studios. “Being part of the Slackmonster team has brought out the best in me and I am grateful,” Ray Ray shared.
The track features an all-star lineup of talent, including Al Gomez on trumpet, Damien “Diamond” Zepeda on violin, Gilbert Martinez on guitarras, vihuela, and guitarrón, and Boo Real providing segunda voz and harmony. Arrangements were handled by Contreras and Martinez, adding depth and authenticity to the performance.
Ray Ray, a San Antonio native, has been a fixture in Tejano music for over two decades, beginning with his family’s band Los Agues in the 1990s. His career includes numerous accolades, such as a Tejano Music Award for Video of the Year for “Ven, Ven, Ven.” His latest release follows his most recent album Hombre Fiel and will be included on his upcoming fifth studio album.
