Freddie Records has officially released the striking cover art and a teaser for “Tonto A Mi Lado”, the highly anticipated new single from two-time Latin Grammy-winning artist Elida Reyna Y Avante. The emotional track, penned by Siggno frontman Jesse Turner and co-arranged by Ricky Muñoz of Grammy-winning Grupo Intocable, was delivered to Tejano radio today (July 9) and is already generating major buzz across the industry.
This powerful new release arrives at a pivotal moment in Elida Reyna’s storied career, as she continues her Farewell Tour across the U.S. and Mexico. The timing is especially poignant, with her final Las Vegas performance set for July 11 at the Vegas Tejano Takeover—a milestone event for both the singer and her fans.
“Tonto A Mi Lado” not only marks the next chapter in Elida’s musical journey but also serves as a heartfelt gift to her devoted fan base, who have supported her across more than three decades of hit-making and award-winning performances. The single’s title, which translates to “Fool by My Side,” hints at an emotional, relatable narrative told through Elida’s signature powerhouse vocals and deeply expressive delivery.
In an emotional recent interview with Domingo Live host Barbi Leo, Elida reflected on her decision to retire from the stage:
“I just thought it was time,” she said. “I’ve had an amazing career — 34 years, over 40 awards, two Grammys. I feel like I’ve pretty much done it all… I’m happy. I’m content. And now it’s time to spend time with my family.”
While stepping away from the spotlight, Elida remains grounded in her gratitude and connection to fans.
“I want to be remembered as a good person. Someone who made a difference. Someone who felt like family through music.”
Known for unforgettable hits like “Duele” and “Luna Llena”, Elida Reyna has been a trailblazer in Tejano music, inspiring countless fans and fellow artists with her authenticity, strength, and grace.
Elida’s final concert will take place December 12 in San Antonio, with a farewell hometown show in Edinburg, Texas, on November 8. Additional farewell stops include Midland, Garland, and Monterrey, Mexico. For full tour details and meet-and-greet opportunities, fans can visit meet.elidareynayavante.com.
