The Tejano music community is mourning the loss of a beloved musician. Francisco “Paco” Palacios Rodriguez, legendary Tejano musician and founding member of Alma Tejana — later known as Los A-T Boyz — passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Surrounded by his loving family, Paco was 77 years old.
Born on August 6, 1947, in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, Paco’s journey into music began at a young age. He won a local talent show at just eight years old, foreshadowing a lifetime dedicated to sharing his musical gift. That passion never waned, and over the decades, he became a pillar in the Tejano music scene.
Paco’s most enduring legacy is the family band he helped create — Alma Tejana — which evolved into Los A-T Boyz. Alongside his sons and with the unwavering support of his wife, Martha, who served as the group’s manager, Paco helped shape a band that would go on to captivate audiences with its infectious energy and heartfelt performances.

Based in Austin, Texas — the “Live Music Capital of the World” — Los A-T Boyz are known for their high-energy performances and unique blend of Tejano, cumbia, and modern Latin music styles. From catchy accordion- and saxophone-driven cumbias to soulful ballads, rancheras, country, and even hip-hop influences, the band’s versatility reflects the musical melting pot of their hometown.
While Paco stayed behind the scenes as the patriarch and guiding force, his influence was evident in the group’s every performance and recording. His leadership and mentorship helped propel the band to success, including nominations at the 2013 Tejano Music Awards for Song of the Year (“Mujer Tan Cruel”) and Entertainer of the Year for lead vocalist Raphael Rodriguez.
Paco was more than a musician — he was a beacon of strength, compassion, and dedication. Known for his ever-present smile, kind heart, and unshakable belief in following one’s dreams, he inspired not only his family but generations of fans and fellow musicians.
