SAN ANTONIO, TX – What started as a humble livestream from a kitchen counter with just two viewers has grown into one of the most recognized platforms for Tejano and Conjunto music. Bumper’s Wacky Wednesday, the hit video podcast hosted by Marine veteran and Tejano advocate Bumper Gomez, is celebrating five years of in-depth artist interviews, trending discussions, and unwavering support for Tejano culture.
“It has been a crazy five years, but I think we have come a long way,” said Gomez. From its modest beginnings, the show has now hosted some of the biggest names in Tejano and Conjunto music, proving to be a must-watch for fans and artists alike. Most recently, Bumper’s Wacky Wednesday welcomed Rene Martinez from the legendary group Intocable, reinforcing its reputation as a go-to platform for artists to share their stories and connect with fans.
The Growth of a Tejano Powerhouse
In the past year, the addition of producer Eddy Hernandez has propelled the show’s quality to new heights. “Eddy has done wonders with how the show flows—graphics, sound, lighting, and the overall growth of the podcast,” Gomez noted. With improved production value and a dedicated audience, Bumper’s Wacky Wednesday continues to solidify its impact on the Tejano scene.
The podcast’s influence extends beyond the weekly show. In 2024, Bumper’s Wacky Wednesday set up an interview stage at the Vegas Tejano Takeover, offering exclusive artist interactions. This year, Gomez will once again take on emcee duties at Milwaukee’s Mexican Fiesta, marking his fourth consecutive year hosting Tejano artists at the prestigious event.
Five-Year Anniversary Celebration
To mark this milestone, a special five-year anniversary celebration is set for Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Jaime’s Place (1514 W Commerce St.) in San Antonio at 7:30 PM. The night will feature the Next Gen Chicano band LA 45, along with surprise appearances from special guest artists, who just might take the stage for a jam session.
“We are just doing our job in what we say here—‘Keeping Tejano Relevant,’” added Gomez. “We thank you for being with us and supporting the show for the last five years.”
Tune In Every Week
Bumper’s Wacky Wednesday airs live every Wednesday at 7:30 PM CT on Facebook and YouTube, where fans can catch new episodes and revisit past interviews with Tejano legends and rising stars.
