That night, Selena mesmerized the crowd in her now-iconic purple jumpsuit, a look immortalized in the 1997 biopic Selena and countless tribute performances. Her setlist was a mix of Tejano hits and disco classics, showcasing her versatility and star power. From her electrifying opening with “I Will Survive” to her cumbia anthems like “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” and “Como la Flor,” Selena commanded the stage with an energy that was both effortless and infectious.

Less than five weeks later, on March 31, 1995, Selena’s life was tragically cut short at just 23 years old. However, her influence has only grown with time. In 2020, the Houston Rodeo inducted her into the Star Trail of Fame, cementing her place in its history as the first Latina recipient. Artists such as Becky G, Cardi B, Kacey Musgraves, and Camila Cabello have paid tribute to Selena at the rodeo over the years, ensuring that new generations continue to celebrate her music.
