SAN ANTONIO, TX — Music legend Flaco Jiménez has been hospitalized, according to the legendary musician’s official Facebook page.
The Facebook post stated, “Flaco is currently in the hospital facing a medical hurdle—in good spirits but trying to get better. Rest assured, he’s in good hands and on the road to recovery. While this was a private family matter, word has gotten out, and we wanted to confirm the hospitalization. Per Flaco’s and the Jiménez family request, this is the only page you will find accurate updates. Thank you all for your love, support, and understanding during this time.”
Another Conjunto legend, Linda Escobar, shared the news on social media, saying, “We kindly request your prayers for our dear friend and Legendary Flaco Jiménez, who has been admitted to the hospital with what we pray is a minor health concern. May the Lord bestow His healing blessings upon Flaco.”
Flaco Jiménez’s beloved accordion was recently added to the permanent collection at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, Tennessee, in December. This marks a significant milestone in the recognition of Jiménez’s contributions to both Tex-Mex and country music with his Hohner signature series accordion. The 85-year-old musician was also awarded the prestigious National Medal of Arts by President Joseph R. Biden in October.
Leonardo “Flaco” Jiménez is a legendary accordionist whose career spans over six decades.
