Jerome, Idaho — Grammy-nominated Tejano artist Juan P. Moreno, originally from Idaho, returned to his native state for a special fundraiser at El Sombrero in Jerome, Idaho, showing gratitude to the community as he continues to battle chronic autoimmune pancreatic disease. The event was a heartfelt gathering of family, friends, and fans offering support for the singer and musician’s health journey.
Born in Twin Falls, Idaho, Moreno’s musical passion ignited early, performing alongside his uncle in the group La Familia Mexicana. After relocating to Texas during high school in 1983, he fully immersed himself in the Tejano music scene, becoming a prominent figure in the industry.
Moreno announced in June he was taking a break from music due to health concerns. A month later he revealed a diagnosis of chronic autoimmune pancreatic disease.
As he fights his current health challenges, which include two tumors on his pancreas and a third tumor on an artery near his heart, Moreno has taken a break from music to focus on his recovery. In an interview with KMVT-TV, he expressed his deep appreciation for the love and support he’s received during this time:
“I’m really happy and thankful to them, and that’s one of the reasons why we come back. We would come back with family reunions and stuff like that, but coming back here and it’s been great. I’ve been here since Wednesday. I want to say a special hello to all my classmates and all the friends from Hansen, people I was raised with. It feels great. It feels really great, to be honest with you. There’s no other words. It feels really great to see those people, everybody supporting me.”
Despite his health struggles, Moreno assured fans that new music is on the horizon, remaining optimistic about his future. “I’m never going to give up. Gonna fight it.
