
The Mavericks have announced the postponement of their upcoming Texas shows in Sugar Land and Helotes, originally scheduled for this weekend. The band shared the news via a heartfelt social media post, citing frontman Raul Malo’s treatment schedule as the reason for the rescheduling.
“Due to Raul’s treatment schedule, our upcoming Texas shows in Sugar Land and Helotes this weekend must unfortunately be rescheduled to April 2025,” read the statement from the band. “We appreciate your understanding in this time and throughout this cancer treatment journey, and sincerely regret any inconvenience caused. Thanks for your patience, and we look forward to seeing you next year.”
All tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled shows next year. New dates include April 18, 2024 at Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land, and April 19, 2025, at John T. Floore Country Store in Helotes.
Raul Malo, the charismatic lead singer of The Mavericks, recently revealed his diagnosis of colon cancer. The diagnosis came after a routine colonoscopy uncovered two cancerous spots. Malo, 58, has been open about his journey, expressing gratitude for the support from fans and emphasizing the importance of regular health check-ups.
The Mavericks are known for their eclectic blend of country, rock, and Latin influences. The group gained significant acclaim in the 1990s with hits like “All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down” and “Dance the Night Away,” showcasing their unique sound that incorporates Tejano, Americana, and pop elements. They have received numerous awards, including a Grammy, and continue to tour and release new music, maintaining a loyal fan base.
Fans who have already purchased tickets for the original dates can use them for the rescheduled shows in April 2025. For those unable to attend the new dates, refunds are available through the point of purchase for the next two weeks.
The Mavericks appreciate the understanding and patience of their fans during this challenging time and look forward to returning to the stage next year.
