Eagle Pass, Texas – Six-time Grammy-nominated Tejano singer, Stefani Montiel, and her band, including her daughter Ileah Zavala, faced a challenging performance on the Fourth of July at the 2024 Independence Day Celebration in Eagle Pass, Texas. The extreme heat of the day tested their endurance, with both mother and daughter experiencing heat exhaustion.
“Booooooooy it was a HOT one today….I almost EAGLE PASSED OUT!! lol Seriously tho, we played at the hottest time of the day facing right into the sun and I don’t know how the band and I did it. I felt like I was going to faint and shortly after we finished our set, Ileah suffered heat exhaustion!” Stefani shared on social media.
Paramedics were called to the scene, and Stefani expressed her gratitude to the City of Eagle Pass first responders for their swift response and care. “We are extremely grateful to the City of Eagle Pass, Texas EMS/ paramedics for taking such good care of her,” she added.
Even with the challenging conditions, Stefani and her band delivered a memorable performance. “Despite the heat, we had a great show and want to thank everybody who showed up early, braved that crazy heat, and showed us love today!” she said.
However, due to the potential impacts of Hurricane Beryl on the region, Stefani Montiel’s upcoming performance at Resaca Fest in San Benito, Texas, scheduled for July 6, has been postponed. Organizers announced, “The City appreciates your understanding as we work to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all attendees.” A new date for the event has not yet been announced.
