Los Caminantes, the iconic Mexican group known for their romantic ballads and heartfelt performances, has returned triumphantly to the recording studio after over a decade. However, they faced a bittersweet challenge this time: creating music without their late father, the legendary music icon Agustín Ramírez, who passed away in 2022.
The band’s latest single, “Como Te Extraño, Papá,” is a re-recording of a song originally written by Agustín Ramírez himself. The emotional track was initially dedicated to their grandfather when he passed away. Now, Los Caminantes have transformed it into a personal tribute to their father.
Agustín Jr. and Anthony Ramírez, the brothers who lead Los Caminantes, shared their sentiments about the recording process: “With this song, we want to pay homage to our father’s memory. It’s a way to keep his legacy alive and honor the love he had for music.”
When asked about the weight of continuing their father’s musical legacy, the brothers expressed optimism. “I feel good,” Agustín Jr. said. “The crowd response has been amazing! You can feel their love instantly when you’re on stage performing for them.”
Los Caminantes’ loyal fan base eagerly awaits their return, and the band has big plans for the future. “We hope to record more music and tour abroad,” Anthony added. “Our hearts are set on sharing our music with fans in Mexico and Central America.”
The music video for “Como Te Extraño, Papá” premieres today, June 14. Fans can also enjoy the single on Father’s Day, June 16, as it becomes available on all digital platforms, courtesy of Oye Productions.
