“Vaqueros y vaqueras, get your botas ready for two days of Tejano at Potawatomi Amplified! We’ll feature some of the largest acts from the Tejano music scene and I’m ecstatic about bringing these Tejano icons to not only Milwaukee, but to Potawatomi. I think this will be a big hit,” says Dominic Ortiz, CEO/GM of Potawatomi Casino Hotel.
Ramón Ayala, often referred to as the “El Rey del Accordeon” (King of the Accordion), is one of the most iconic figures of Norteño music. He rose to fame in the ’60s as part of the duo Los Relámpagos del Norte, alongside Cornelio Reyna, and for more than half a century he has maintained a successful career with his band Ramón Ayala y sus Bravos del Norte. Throughout his long-lasting career, he has recorded over 100 albums, two of which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Regional Mexican Albums chart: Arriba El Norte (1991) and Antología De Un Rey (2004). He’s also placed 12 songs on Hot Latin Songs, including “Del Otro Lado del Portón”, at No. 12, and “Quémame los Ojos”, at No. 19. And he’s received two Grammy Awards and two Latin Grammys, among other accolades. Ramon is currently on the Tour “El Principio de un Final” (The Beginning of an End) in 2024!
Considered by many to be one of the greatest Norteno or Regional Mexican bands coming out of South Texas, Duelo has a significant following in both the United States of America and Mexico setting attendance records and performing to sold out shows regularly. In 1996, DUELO was born when its founders, Oscar Iván Treviño and Dimas López, formed a duet that played in the restaurant of the latter’s parents in their native Rome, Texas. The band continues to blaze trails, including multiple nominations for awards such as: Billboard Awards, Premios Oye and the Latin Grammys! In 2012 the band made their 3rd appearance at Reliant Stadium in Houston for The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, breaking the attendance record then with more than 74,588 attendees.
The August concert headliner will be released at a later date.
