Montiel spent the day at the state capital, soaking in the honor and the outpouring of love and support from the Tejano music community and the great state of Texas. “Today has been a day I will hold close to my heart forever—a day that marks a truly indescribable moment in my life and career,” she shared. “Being recognized by the Texas Music Office and the State of Texas is not just an honor, but a deeply profound and momentous accomplishment for me.”
For over 30 years, the New Mexico native has poured her heart and soul into the Tejano music industry, fueled by her passion for music and driven by the love and encouragement of her supporters. This recognition from her home state of over three decades, a place she draws inspiration from, left her feeling overwhelmed with gratitude.

As she reflected on this incredible moment, Montiel dedicated the recognition to her beloved mother, who could not be there with her. “She was my biggest supporter, my guiding light, and my inspiration,” Montiel said. “I know that she is watching over me from heaven with pride and love.”
