Elida Reyna Y Avante released the official music video for their latest hit, “Cierra Esa Boquita,” the lead single from their upcoming album, on the Freddie Records YouTube channel.
“Cierra Esa Boquita” is a song written by Miguel Zola and Rodrigo Barbadillo, two renowned composers who have penned hits for many artists in the Tejano and Regional Mexican genres. The song was produced by Lalo Reyna III, the leader of Grupo Avante and the husband of Elida Reyna. The executive producers are Los Hermanos Martinez (Freddie Martinez, Jr., John Martinez, and Marc Martinez), the sons of the founder of Freddie Records, Freddie Martinez Sr.
The song was recorded by Eli Molina at the famous Legends Sound Studios in Corpus Christi, Texas and was mixed and mastered by Mariano Herrera, Lalo Reyna III and Lorenzo “Papo” Banda (bassist for Grupo Avante).
“Cierra Esa Boquita” is a cumbia with a very danceable rhythm and a catchy chorus. It’s a song about a woman fed up with hearing her ex-partner speaking badly about her in front of others. But there are always two versions of a story and if her ex doesn’t keep quiet, she’s going to tell hers.
The video for “Cierra Esa Boquita” was directed by Lalo Reyna III and produced by Raul Nava and Interline Films. The visual showcases Elida’s charisma, beauty and talent as well as the musical skills and energy of Grupo Avante in a beautiful home.
Elida Reyna Y Avante is one of the most popular and influential groups in the Tejano music scene. They have won numerous awards and accolades, including two Latin Grammy Awards for Best Tejano Album in 2010 and 2014. They have also been nominated for several other awards and won the most ever Tejano Music Awards for a female, second overall only to late Tejano icon Jimmy Gonzalez. Some of their most famous songs are “Luna Llena,” “Duele,” “Prefiero Morir,” “Juntos Hasta Morir” and “Domingo.”
