Fans of Joe Lopez and El Poder del Norte de Arturo Buenrostro are in for a treat. The two musical acts have joined forces to record a cover of “Que Me Lleven Canciones”, the classic song from Mazz that was a hit in the 90s.
The single and music video were released on Friday, (September 22), after the artists shared a sneak peek of their collaboration on their social media platforms a few days earlier.
Lopez, who was the co-founder and lead singer of Mazz, has been making a comeback to the music scene after being released from prison in 2018. He has since released the album Love From The Heart and performed live shows across Texas and Mexico. He has been added to the performance lineup for the upcoming 43rd Tejano Music Awards next month in San Antonio.
El Poder del Norte de Arturo Buenrostro is one of the most successful Norteño groups in Mexico, with over 30 years of career and more than 20 albums. The group is known for its romantic and upbeat songs that blend traditional Norteño elements with modern influences.
“Que Me Lleven Canciones” was written by Humberto “Beto” Ramon and the original version was produced by late Tejano icon Jimmy González. It was released in 1991 as part of the Mazz album Una Noche Juntos.
The cover by Lopez and Buenrostro is a fresh and exciting rendition of the song, with the distinctive voices and styles of the two artists.
“Que Me Lleven Canciones” is available to stream or download on all digital music platforms.
