The Tejano music scene is buzzing with excitement as the new duet from Yeisi (pronounced “Jay-see”) and Ram Herrera, “No Puedo Olvidarte”, has just been released. The song, which translates to “I Can’t Forget You”, is a romantic ballad that showcases the vocal talents and chemistry of the two singers.
Yeisi is a Rio Grande Valley singer-songwriter with a loyal fan base, who released his first Tejano album in 2020. Ram Herrera, on the other hand, is a veteran of the Tejano music genre, with over 40 years of experience and multiple awards. He is known as “The Most Wanted Man” and “The Outlaw of Tejano Music”. The collaboration between the two artists was unexpected, but the result is a beautiful blend of styles and cultures with production from Jair Alcala from the Latin Grammy-winning group El Plan.
“I was working on the album and this was one of the last songs that I completed,” Yeisi said in an interview with Tejano Nation radio affiliate Super Tejano 102.1 in the Rio Grande Valley. “I wanted to make it special. We produced with El Plan de Monterrey. I wanted to give it that flare and I’m lucky Mr Ram came on board and the song came out great!”
Yeisi wrote the song based on his own personal experience of losing a girlfriend who moved away. He wanted to convey the feeling of nostalgia and longing that he still feels for her.
The singer-songwriter just released his third Tejano album, “Trovador Tejano,” and revealed his a big fan of Herrera. Yeisi said. “Ram is one of my favorite singers and to be able to bring him on to this project…I’m beside myself. I’m over the moon.”
Ram Herrera said that he was honored to work with Yeisi, whom he considers one of the best young artists in the genre. He related to the song because he also had a similar situation in his past. He said that he hopes that the song will touch the hearts of many listeners who have gone through a breakup.
“When I heard the song, I jumped right on it. I said let’s get started right away. I thought it was a great song,” Herrera told Super Tejano 102.1. “I’m going to get him to help me do my own songwriting. One of these days.”
The collaboration has received positive feedback from fans and critics alike, who praised the chemistry between Yeisi and Ram Herrera, as well as the lyrics and music. The song is available on all streaming platforms, and the official music video is expected soon. “No Puedo Olvidarte” is a must-listen for anyone who loves Latin music, or who simply wants to enjoy a sweet and soulful tune.
