San Antonio’s own Vanita Leo is ready to rock the stage with Ramona, one of the most popular indie Latin bands in Mexico. Vanita Leo, who is signed to Baby Grand Records, has been chosen to open for Ramona’s Texas leg of their US tour.
This is a great opportunity for Vanita Leo to showcase her talent and her EP, “Historia De Un Amor”, which was released earlier this year to rave reviews.
Vanita Leo is a rising star in the Latinx music scene, blending her Tejano roots with contemporary R&B, neo-soul, and indie influences. She debuted with a bolero fusion mix for Baby Grand Records Live Sessions in February 2022, showcasing her sultry voice and versatile style. She comes from a family of Tejano legends, such as her father Marco Jaime and uncle Alfonso Jaime, both former members of Grupo Rodeo. She started singing on stage at the age of six and honed her skills in theater and mariachi programs at school. She is currently working on her first album with producer Mario Ortiz, who signed her to his label in April 2021 along with Tejano veteran J.R. Gomez.
Ramona is a band from Tijuana, Mexico, that has been making waves in the indie Latin scene. They have performed with big names like Natalia Lafourcade, Hello Seahorse, Kinky, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and Blonde Redhead, among others. Their music is a blend of rock, pop, and folk influences, with catchy melodies and lyrics that speak to the heart.
If you are a fan of indie Latin music, you don’t want to miss this tour. Vanita Leo and Ramona will be performing in San Antonio on August 2nd at Paper Tiger, in Dallas on August 4th at Club Dada, in Houston on August 6th at Continental Club, and in Austin on August 7th at Antone’s.
