Laura Linda celebrates new single ‘Cuidarte El Alma’ and Entertainer of the Year Award

The re-emergence of Laura Linda continues with the release of her latest single, a cover of “Cuidarte El Alma,” a song originally recorded by Puerto Rican Latin Pop singer Chayanne in 2003.

Laura Linda’s version was produced by Sevy Contreras and features a more Regional Mexican sound.

“We went ahead and changed it to estilo Tejano. We did it in a cumbia,” Laura Linda tells Tejano Nation. “But I wouldn’t say so much Tejano. I think it’s more Mexcian Regional that we did, you know, just to kind of open up and broaden the market a little bit and being able to contribute to all sorts of different markets.”

The Dallas-based singer was recently named Entertainer of the Year at the 2023 All-Star Music Awards last month in San Antonio.

“It was amazing. I don’t want to sound bold or anything but it was time,” said Laura Linda. “I’ve been an entertainer my whole life, you know, dancing, singing, and entertaining. It was really, really good to be able to win that category. It was really nice.”

In December 2019, Laura Linda re-emerged in the Tejano Music industry with the release of “Quitame Ese Hombre,” a song that was a Tejano Music
Awards finalist for Song of The Year in 2020. Other singles and music videos followed including “Yo No Soy de Nadie,” “Te Metiste,” and “El Besito,” which reached No. 1 on the Mas Chingon Radio Top 10 Music Video Countdown. She also released “Tu Eres Mi Hombre y Yo Soy Tu Mujer.”

Laura Linda burst onto the Tejano music scene after successfully touring in the Country music industry for many years where she performed with Country superstars like Mark Chesnutt, Tim McGraw, Pam Tillis, and Restless Heart.
While touring, she incorporated Tejano music into her performances and realized her strong desire to crossover and pursue a career in the Tejano industry.

The singer’s Tejano exposure consisted of performing with top Tejano powerhouse headliners such as Emilio, Michael Salgado, Jay Perez, Eddie Gonzalez, and Joe Lopez. Laura Linda made television appearances with Johnny Canales, Tejano Country, Aqui Rogelio, and Domingo Live, which broadcast from her hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas. She received a Tejano Music Award for Instrumental of The Year for “El Circo” in 2000.

Laura Linda shared she has a couple of planned collaborations coming soon, including one with singer-songwriter Lorenzo Lopez, who won Songwriter of the Year at the All-Star Music Awards last month.
