LOS ANGELES, CA. — The Latino Heritage Foundation, Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, and Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Department are uniting to present a free community event, the TARDEADA DE MARIACHI, on Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 3:00 – 7:00pm at the East Los Angeles Civic Center Lake Stage. Other sponsors of the event include Anthem Blue Cross, California Water Service, Hispanic Lifestyle, L.A. Kings, Firefly, and Yelp
Serving as MC for the event will be NBC4 Today in L.A. Meteorologist Belen De Leon. She is part of the award-winning weather team that has earned Most Accurate Weather Team in Southern California by WeatheRate for six consecutive years. Prior to her career as a meteorologist, De Leon was a member of a Regional Mexican band, spending much of her time on the road performing. In fact, her band La Onda has received two Latin Billboard Music Awards.

The goal of the Latino Heritage Month event is to create a festive and culturally relevant day of music, dance, and fun for the entire family, celebrating the beautiful traditional music of Mexico while highlighting the next generation that is carrying on the musical tradition. In addition to musical performances will be youth folklorico and Azteca dancers, arts and crafts, Loteria games, and, of course, delicious food – all the traditional elements of a true “tardeada,” or “afternoon party,” that contribute to L.A.’s rich Latino culture. Closing out the program will be a professional mariachi group.
The public is invited to this free event, which will also include a Resource Fair component to provide information on various county, community, and nonprofit resources, courtesy of Supervisor Solis’ office.
The East Los Angeles Civic Center is located at 4801 East Third Street, Los Angeles 90022. There is free parking, and the Metro L (formerly Gold) Line services the area, with a dedicated East Los Angeles Civic Center Station.
