Destiny Navaira will release her highly-anticipated solo sophomore album, Dime Cómo Se Siente, on April 22. The three-time Tejano Music Awards winner made the announcement via social media on Monday (April 18).
“I can’t believe we are so close to the release of my second album. I would like to thank my family, friends, band, producers, manager, team, and fans for all the support throughout this journey,” Destiny tells Tejano Nation. “You will hear so many styles of music in this album and all of my feelings.”
The next generation of the Navaira musical legacy had huge success with her debut solo album La Preferida released in 2020 just as the pandemic began. The collection of tunes earned her the Female Vocalist of the Year at the 41st Tejano Music Awards last year.
“To win that award was something, obviously on my bucket list,” Destiny told Tejano Music Awards TV. “To join the shortlist of ladies that have won that award I hold near and dear to my heart. To me, it’s a great responsibility to represent Stefani (Montiel), to represent Selena, Elida (Reyna), Laura Canales, I mean, that’s not something small to me.”
The three-time Tejano Music Awards winner added her upcoming album was recorded during the pandemic with producers Manuel Herrera and Alfonso Herrera in Monterrey, Mexico, as well as Rudy Olivares in Houston, exploring various sounds.
“This album especially is something I’m so very proud of because it came from the heart and it came from a time of despair, you know when the pandemic was coming out we didn’t know what we were going to do and it’s just been the light at the end of the tunnel for me,” she said. “Trying different things is the theme of this album. You know I really referenced back to (Selena’s) Amor Prohibido. That album, it kind of had a little bit of everything they really experimented and I think that’s what we did.”
Destiny will also release a collaboration with Jose Adan Esparza of Bronco, titled “Yo Te Daba Todo,” on Wednesday (April 20) just two days before the release of her new album.
Dime Cómo Se Siente from Destiny Navaira is available to pre-save here for the release on all digital music platforms on April 22 from Unimusik.
