New Mexico singer Esmeralda Sanchez released her latest single “Mi Tierra” on her YouTube Channel on Tuesday (Jan. 18). Originally released by Latin music icon Gloria Estefan in 1993, the Albuquerque vocalist added her own flair to the already powerhouse song.
“I wanted to keep that infamous Salsa rhythm but also add a little bit of Cumbia to it,” said Esmeralda.
“Mi Tierra” is a follow-up single to her debut album, Canciones De Mi Vida, with her father Gilbert Sanchez.
“I’m very proud of how the song turned out and hope that fans are able to find joy in the words and rhythm,” added Esmeralda. “‘Mi Tierra’ is about never forgetting that place you call home, no matter how near or far. It’s a very universal feeling that we experience at some point in our lives.”
Arranged by Miguel Hernández, “Mi Tierra” is comprised of Hernandez on bass, bajo quinto, keyboards, and percussion, with Ray Diaz DeLeon on accordion, Aaron Holler on drums, Rudolfo Gonzalez on flute and congas, and Gilbert Sanchez on background vocals, which was mixed and mastered at Fuego Records in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
