“Para Volvernos Amar” was produced by Perez and his long-time collaborator and bandleader Mario Ortiz. Recorded and mixed at the famed Legends Sound Studios at Freddie Records in Corpus Christi, Texas, along with additional recording at The Hit Lab in San Antonio.
“This album here was a big challenge for me because my producer, Mario Ortiz, he set the bar too high for me,” Perez tells Tejano Nation. “I thought when I first walked in I listened to the songs and I was, ‘Man, I can’t do this. I can’t sing this style, I’ve never sang that style.’ Pero (but) he made me work. He gave me the freedom to run with it and experiment with certain melodies that I’m not used to, just out of the norm for me.”
The up-tempo Tejano style ranchera features a tight arrangement with layered keyboards, tasteful accordion fills, smooth vocal harmonies, and an outstanding vocal performance by “The Voice” Jay Perez. Incredible musicianship throughout, “Para Volvernos Amar” will instantly have fans singing along and jumping on the dancefloor.
The album El Maestro reached the top of the iTunes Latin Albums chart less than 24 hours after its release on May 28.
“Para Volvernos Amar” by Jay Perez is available to stream or download on all digital music platforms.
