The 20th annual El Veterano Festival, honoring veterans, a conjunto legend and young musicians will take place November 3 in Robstown, Texas.
Held every year around Veterans Day in memory of Conjunto legend Eligio Escobar, the yearly family-friendly event is a source of pride for coordinator and five-time Tejano Music Hall of Fame inductee Linda Escobar, as the Conjunto music showcase honors not only veterans’ service to our country in memory of her late father, but also shines a spotlight on the future of the Conjunto Tejano genre with scholarships for young musicians.
Scheduled to perform are some of today’s hottest Conjunto bands from across Texas, as well as past scholarship recipients. Military Ceremonies will be performed by the Veteran’s Band.
Performances scheduled by Lazaro Perez y Su Conjunto, Los Arroyos Del Rio, Conjunto Cats, Los Arias, Ruben De La Cruz y Su Conjunto, Conjunto Amable, Linda Escobar, Tony Saenz y La Rosa de Oro, Santiago Garza y La Naturaleza and other special guests.
The festival will take place from Noon to 10 p.m., Sunday, November 3 at the KC Columbian Civic Center (formerly KC Hall), 2137 US-77 Business, in Robstown. All ages are welcome, and the cover charge is $10 per person, with the proceeds going to the Eligio Escobar Scholarship Fund.
