It celebrates 25 years as a solo artist for “The Voice”, who shared details on what to expect from this long-awaited new album in a social media video.
“We’re going to put a little twist into this album here because we’re gonna go back to the ’90s, 2000s feel,” said Perez. “Y’all remember the ‘Steel Rain’ album, we had ‘Ven A Mi’ and all those wonderful…good songs. We’re going to try to get that same feel, that same style of music into this next album.”
“25th Anniversary Contigo” features 12 tracks including the hit singles “Basta De Tu Amor” and “Contigo”. It also features a duet with his wife Roxy P., a Christian song titled “Let Them See You” which showcases the foundation of the couple’s relationship.
“I’m blessed for the relationship we have, the husband-wife thing we have going, but to be able to record with somebody of his caliber is just a huge blessing,” Roxy said in an interview with La Fe Cafe. “It’s a song that shares the foundation of our relationship, which is Jesus, and that binds us together, which is very important to us. It’s just a beautiful thing and to be able to worship in a song with my husband I think is a huge privilege.”
This album is the first album released from Perez since the Latin Grammy-nominated “Un Amigo Tendras” released in 2015, which also earned Best Tejano Album of the Year at the 37th annual Tejano Music Awards.
“I have been in the business for about 25 years,” said Perez in an interview. “I started professionally with the Latin Breed, I sang for them and recorded an album with them. Then I went off to sing with David Lee Garza Y Los Musicales for a couple of years.”
Perez has released many hit albums since beginning a solo career in the early 1990s.
“I launched my solo career in 1993 and have been doing it since. I have been blessed to have our fans supporting my music all these years,” he said.
