Tony Guerrero of La Sombra shared details on his health status since intestinal surgery in March and an update on a new album from the legendary group in a recent interview with the Cruz Control with AC Cruz podcast.
The Tejano R.O.O.T.S. Hall of Fame singer was hospitalized in March after receiving surgery for hernia complications and intestinal problems. This is just the latest surgery for Guerrero, who has suffered from intestinal and hernia problems since 2007, according to the interview.

“I still feel real soreness from it,” Guerrero said about his recovery. “I still feel a lot of pain from it. Getting out of bed hurts a lot. Sitting down hurts a lot. I have to watch the way I walk sometimes. It’s like I’m not a 100% back yet.”
The vocalist was only able to perform a few songs at one show since the surgery but has scheduled more dates for this summer.
He also spoke about the delay of the current album that will feature La Sombra’s latest hit “That’s What’s Up,” a collaboration with Jaime DeAnda, David Farias and more. The new album will be the follow-up to “Guess Who’s Back: The Windy City Boys” that earned the group three Tejano Music Awards nominations in 2017, including Tejano Album of the Year.
Guerrero also mentions the beginning of La Sombra as “The Windy City Boys”, what the original band members are up to these days and much more.
