Netflix looking to cast roles for Selena series

Netflix announced in late 2018 that a new scripted show depicting the life of Selena would be coming to the streaming service. Now, casting is underway to fill the roles for the upcoming series.

According to, the casting agency is working to find actors for the show and casting director Carla Hool is in charge of filling each spot for the series. Hool is the casting director behind “Narcos,” “Narcos: Mexico” and “Coco.”

A social media post by casting director Michael Druck asked for headshots from anyone interested to play the role of Selena.

“THE NETFLIX Series is looking to cast the role of Selena, Female, Latina, to play her age range 15-23, bilingual English and Spanish and must have excellent singing voice. If you know anyone who would like to send in a self- tape have them email a headshot/current photo to and I’ll forward self-tape instructions.”

“Selena: The Series” was developed alongside and will be executive produced by the Quintanilla family. The show will follow Selena’s rise to fame and her tragic death at the hands of her former fan club president, Yolanda Saldívar.

Production is looking to start in August of this year and film throughout Texas and select areas of Mexico.

Her life story was last memorialized in the “Selena” movie starring Jennifer Lopez in 1997, but according to Backstage, the series will shed more light on her rise to stardom.
