SAN ANTONIO — SpinXpress, a new self- and full-service laundry, will host a grand opening party this weekend featuring Grammy Award winners Los Texmaniacs, free school supplies and the expansion of its Goodwill clothing donation program.

Festivities run from 8 a.m. until 5 pm Saturday, Aug. 11, at the newest SpinXpress location, 4941 West Commerce in the Crosstowne Mercado shopping center. Grammy Award winners and Smithsonian Folkways conjunto recording artists Los Texmaniacs will play from 12 noon until 3 p.m.

Washers and dryers also will be free to use all day, along with free tacos from 10:45 a.m. until 1 p.m. Parents can also go home with free school supplies for their kids, as local school districts start classes as soon as August 13.

The new location is the third SpinXpress in San Antonio. The locally-based company also has locations at 1107 S. General McMullen and 8535 Blanco Road. Additional locations are also planned in San Antonio and beyond.

“My brothers and I grew up in San Antonio, so we’re excited to bring a radically better laundry experience and a really fun grand opening party to the neighborhood,” said Bhavin Patel of SpinXpress. “Coin laundry facilities for far too long have been mostly dingy, dirty, and not places anyone wants to be if they can avoid it. We want to show the laundry customer that we respect them by making the chore of doing their laundry much more pleasant than what they have come to expect.”

At the opening of the Blanco Road location in the spring, SpinXpress and Goodwill launched a partnership that is sending thousands of clothing items to Goodwill San Antonio. Clothing left behind at any SpinXpress in San Antonio is now being donated to Goodwill. And each location now features a Goodwill donation station strictly for donated clothing.

Since starting in April, the program has seen SpinXpress donate more than 3,000 pounds of clothing to Goodwill, which uses the donations to support Goodwill’s mission to help change lives through the power of work. Goodwill’s mascot, “Good William,” will be on hand for Saturday’s grand opening.

The new SpinXpress features staff on site at all times, 44 washers, 54 dryers, 55-inch HD televisions, free Wi-Fi, a kids fun zone, charging stations, super-clean bathrooms and a bright, safe environment. SpinXpress employees clean each washer and dryer several times daily. The facility is open 24 hours.

“Partnerships with community businesses are a vital factor to our success. We are excited to partner with SpinXpress on their innovative laundromat concept,” said Penny Benavidez, Director of Public Relations for Goodwill San Antonio. “Their focus on empowering the communities they serve is aligned with our mission to help change lives through the power of work. Every donation collected at SpinXpress helps Goodwill fund education, training and career services that empower individuals with barriers to find meaningful employment.”

In addition to self-service laundry, SpinXpress also offers a full-service option. Customers can drop off their laundry and let SpinXpress wash, dry, fold and package it for easy pickup.
