Rising Tejano singer Lucy Rodriguez released her version of “Hello, Baby Doll”, the 1980s hit from Carlos Moreno. Rodriguez premiered the cover during an interview with Moreno on Carana Radio on Saturday (Feb. 17).
“I wanted Mr. Moreno to be the first to hear my version since it really belongs to him,” Rodriguez told Tejano Nation. “This track has such a rich history and sitting with him and his wonderful wife, Ana, as he reminisced about the height of the song’s popularity, was an extraordinary honor for me.”
“Hello, Baby Doll” will be one of the tracks featured on Rodriguez’s upcoming album, Si Mañana, set to be released on Monday, Feb 19, 2018.
“He was informed throughout the entire recording process,” said Rodriguez. “From its inception, I reached out to him and asked his permission to record it; I received his full endorsement. If obtaining a true living legend’s blessing wasn’t enough, finding out I have the distinction of being the first and only female to have recorded this song is a tremendous honor that I will always hold very dear.”
Rodriguez will be part of the upcoming Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair autograph sessions with a meet and greet scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on March 15 and 16.
