Los Aguilares to celebrate their 58 year run with El Gran Final Anniversary Show

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — In a prolific recording and touring career that spanned six decades and numerous accolades, San Antonio conjunto legends, Los Aguilares, will cap an extraordinary career with their final anniversary show, “El Gran Final” with a star-studded show at the San Antonio Event Center on January 13th.

The legendary group, formed on San Antonio’s West side in 1960 by brothers Emilio Aguilar, the legendary accordionist who passed away in 2009, but whose wish was for the group to continue performing, and bass player/lead vocalist, Genaro Aguilar, would go on to become one of the most formative and successful vocal duos in the world of Tejano music.

Their status as musical icons in Tejano music is cemented by the all-star lineup slated to
perform. Sonny Ozuna, Ruben Ramos and Marcos Orozco are just a few of the names lending their talents for the show.

Emilio’s son Miguel “Michael” Aguilar, who Genaro credits for the group’s longevity, credits the fans of Los Aguilares for making their run so successful.

“Our fans, whether here in San Antonio, Houston, El Valle, West Texas, have always been the secret to our success. We would not be here without their tremendous support through the years”, said Aguilar.

Genaro Aguilar also paid homage to the fans who supported the group through the years.

“We have been very blessed through the years to perform the music that we love,” he said. “Thank you to our families, friends and fans for supporting us for 58 beautiful years. Its been a dream come true.”

The anniversary show weekend will prove to be a memorable one for their families and fans alike with a pre-show dance on Friday, January 12th. Family and friends can celebrate with Los Aguilares at a special recognition dinner and dance, with a State of Texas Resolution presentation by Rep. Philip Cortez, musical performances featuring artists La Tropa F, and a musical tribute to Laura Canales by special guest artists, at Mi Mercado Event Center, located at 227 New Laredo Highway.
