Roger Velasquez releases official music video for ‘Mas Que Tu Amigo’

The past year, at best, has been busy, for San Antonio singer-songwriter Roger Velasquez.  The year has at least been book-ended by two incredibly memorable and feel-good songs — the Tejano Music Awards nominated Song of the Year, “El Gallo de Palenque,” and now the newly released “Mas Que Tu Amigo.”

After several weeks of being teased by Facebook posts and video clips, the official music video was finally released on December 18.

The visual for “Mas Que Tu Amigo” features Velasquez at the center of an outdoor party, filmed on location at Una Noche En La Gloria.

The singer’s fourth solo album, Roger Velasquez Una Noche, was recorded at Blue Cat Recording Studios and engineered by Grammy Award winning producer Joe Treviño.

This jazz influenced big band styled star studded Tejano album features collaborations with multi-Grammy award winner and The King of the Brown Sound Little Joe Hernandez on the single “El Gallo de Palenque.”  This exciting project also features a duet with 2016 Tejano Music Awards Best New Female Artist winner Destiny Navaira on a unique Tejano rendition of the great Juan Gabriel’s “ Te Voy A Olvidar.” This diverse album also features a collaboration with star of stage and screen Jesse Borrego on”El Corrido de Momo Guerrero,” with Grammy Award winning bajo sexto Max Baca and accordionist Dwayne Verheyden of the Netherlands. The title cut “Una Noche” features a guest appearance by saxophonist Jeff Nathanson of Luis Miguel.

Velasquez is a BMI song writer and a voting member of The Recording Academy and the Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. He has written songs such as “Mal Hombre” for Hollywood Pictures “Blood In Blood Out” and “La Sirena” for the film “Gino’s Wife,” also the number one hit song “Trago Profundo.”

His vocal performance can be found on “A Puros Tragos,” from the Grammy nominated album Live In Session, and many other hit songs on major recording label Capital EMI. He is currently in the studio recording his fifth CD project.
