Tejano and Chicano music legend Jimmy Edward is planning to return the stage 11 months after his home caught fire and he spent months recovering in the hospital.
The former Latin Breed vocalist and his family were able to exit their home after it caught fire around 3 a.m. on January 1, allegedly due to fireworks. He was hospitalized for months in intensive care for smoke inhalation after he suffered a build-up of carbon monoxide in his lungs.
The 66-year-old singer will now return to the stage on December 9 for the Holiday Extravaganza at the Floresville Event Center in Floresville, Texas. He will share the stage with another former Latin Breed vocalist Adalberto Gallegos, who is also returning the stage after kidney transplant surgery this past summer.
Gallegos had been going through dialysis for many years due to diabetes and the outlook was grim. He needed a kidney but there were no matches. His son, Adalberto Gallegos Jr., was deemed a match in 2016 and this past summer Gallegos was blessed with a kidney and a new life.
The Holiday Extravaganza will feature Jimmy Edward and Adalberto Gallegos backed up by the Powerhouse Band Avizo. The Houston-based band has been together for 35 years and is considered by many to be the Tower of Power of Tejano and Chicano Music.
Other performers during this action packed, fun filled night will be William “Wild Bill” Perkins and Calle Seis, originally from from Austin and now residing in San Antonio. The return of Stephanie Lynn, “Charanga King” Hugo Guerrero, “El Tejano de California” Jess Lopez, singer and songwriter Jorge Alejandro, guitarist and vocalist Ralph Saenz, and Little Joe’s little brother Gilbert Hernandez.
The event will be hosted by Conjunto legend Boni Mauricio and tickets are $20.00 for General Admission and $35.00 for VIP, which includes a meet and greet with the artists. Call (830)391-4980 for Tickets or order online at www.FloresvilleEvents.com.
