Rising singer Mario Macias is excited to open for AB Quintanilla Y Elektro Kumbia during an album release party at the House of Blues in Dallas, Texas on June 30.

In an interview with Tejano Whoop Ass TV, the 2013 Tejano Idol winner said he was very excited to open for Quintanilla, the brother of late Latin music icon Selena.

“This is pretty big for me…Selena is my idol,” Macias said. “A couple of years ago when I was 15 years old, I was watching the (Selena) movie and who would of thought now, looking back, that I’m going to be playing for her brother. It’s really mind blowing, so yes, I am nervous, but again, entertaining is what I love to do, so I’m more excited and pumped up to go out there and do what I love.”

The album release party, produced by Premier Live, is for the self-titled debut album from A.B. Quintanilla Y Elektro Kumbia scheduled for release on June 30.

Macias burst on the Tejano music scene in 2015 with his debut single, “Alma Rendida“, a ranchera featuring music legend Little Joe, produced by Bob Gallarza.

The 20-year-old singer from Fort Worth also gave a live preview of his upcoming single “All Eyes”, a Reggaeton Pop inspired song, scheduled for release in a couple of months.
