Singer-songwriter Cindy Ramos released her solo debut single “No Piensas Regresar” on Thursday (June 23).
“‘No Piensas Regresar’ is a song I wrote that refers to heartbreak and letting the person you love, go,” Ramos told TejanoNation. “It’s a situation that many women endure and can identify with.”
The track was produced by musical icon Lorenzo “Papo” Banda from Exelencia.
“It was a privilege and honor to have had the opportunity to work with such amazing talent,” Ramos said.
A native of Laredo, Texas, Ramos has a deep love for music and grew up immersed in Tejano and Conjunto music. She cites her musical influences as Laura Canales, Selena, Elsa Garcia, Ruben Vela, Tony De La Rosa and Linda Escobar, to name just a few. She began her musical journey at the age of 12, performing in social events including family functions and various celebrations. With the support of her uncle and mentor, Gilberto Rodriguez (Los Colegas), she learned the basic techniques of vocal ability.
At the age of 15, she began her official musical career as lead vocalist for The Riverside Band. She gained both stage presence and experience while continually developing her vocal ability which ultimately led to an audition to join Grupo Inocencia. As part of Grupo Inocencia she traveled and performed across the country in various events including concerts and television performances. Later, she would form her own band, Cindy Ramos Y Exclusivo, their demo CD received radio play all around Texas, New Mexico, Florida and Monterrey. Today, she performs with her band, however the name Exclusivo has been dropped, she simply goes by ‘Cindy Ramos’.
Her performances at the 2016 Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair were met with excitement and interest from both fans and fellow musicians. In addition to her solo performances, she has collaborated on projects with artists, most recently with Roel Nava on the duet “Fuiste Tu” and with 2015 Tejano Music Awards Best New Group winner Grupo Imagen.
Ramos is currently in the studio recording her first album with a targeted release date for later this year. The album will possess a unique, diverse and distinctive expression of Tejano with a twist of Norteño and Conjunto.
