Sabor Latino Legacy is a tribute to the Rios sibling’s father and uncle’s band in the 1970’s.  The original Sabor Latino played in Douglas for over 10 years in the peak of Tejano Music scene, according to Xavi Rios. The Rios brothers decided to follow in their family’s footsteps.  The band recorded some hip hop albums but decided to follow and stick with their passion for Tejano music.  Danny Gomez started playing Tejano music for the band La Familia when he was only 11 years old. Danny Grijalva found his way back to Tejano music and now is the percussionist for Sabor Latino Legacy. Carlos Olivas is the newest member of the band and also has the deep root in his blood for Tejano music.

Sabor Latino Legacy started off slow, playing three or four gigs a year and they became one of the most popular bands in Southern Arizona. They released their debut album, En La Sangre, in 2015. The album featured 10 songs, including nine original songs written by Xavi Rios. They are currently working on their new album which is expected to be released soon.

Sabor Latino Legacy has a reputation of being a band that packs the house and puts on a great show while playing the hottest Tejano and cumbia hits that keeps the audience dancing all night.  They add a special modern twist to their music which makes them different and unique from other bands, Xavi Rios explained to DJ Peaches. The band’s goal is to share the stage with popular Tejano band Siggno one day.
