Tejano superstars David Farias and AJ Castillo will headline the Mexican American Experience, a two day concert showcase, returning to the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (ESB-MACC) on March 16-17 in Austin, Texas.

The free event, presented by Crossroads Events, showcases award winning Texas based musical artists, featuring Austin talent for the sixth year in a row.

Besides Farias and Castillo, other artists scheduled to appear include Yayo Castillo Y Rumores, Lucky Joe, Los A-T Boyz, Angel Gonzalez Y Vimana, Tejano Highway 281 and 2015 Tejano Idol winner Monica Saldivar.

“The music made by these artists is an example of the identity and culture of Mexican Americans,” according to a press release from Crossroads Events. “Crossroads Events provides a showcase of these artists for individuals and families to enjoy these rhythms, along with the culture and food, during Austin’s Spring Break week as part of an educational and informative experience at the ESB-MACC. The Mexican American Experience is a collaboration with the ESB-MACC and the City of Austin.”

Music begins at 6:00 pm on both days, with the grounds open to the public at 5:00 pm for partaking of the open air event in the Zocalo area of the cultural center along Lady Bird Lake.  The Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center  is located at 600 River St.

No ice chests are allowed at the event and established Austin based businesses will be onsite with food and beverages available for purchase. Local non-profit and community organizations will be on site to provide information.

Parking is by permit only at the ESB-MACC during this event. A shuttle service is available from Mendez Middle School and Fiesta Gardens at no cost for MAE attendees. Use of the Capital Metro service and bicycles are encouraged as well during this Spring Break event.

Vendor space and community organization exhibitors will be on site at the two day event. For more information on how to participate and requirements, contact Mark Gomez, Event Coordinator, at 512-698 – 1317.
