AUSTIN – Tejano Nation has added Tejano and Conjunto music writer and radio show host Piper LeMoine as contributor.
LeMoine manages all things technical, promotional, and creative at Austin’s own Rancho Alegre Radio, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Tejano and Conjunto music and has covered Tejano for Austin Vida since 2012.
“Piper’s expertise in the Tejano and Conjunto music scene is paralleled by no other,” said John Henry Medina, Tejano Nation Digital Managing Editor. “She will help TejanoNation.net remain the premiere website for Tejano and Conjunto music, news and entertainment with fresh, exciting content for fans of the genres from all over the world.”
LeMoine co-hosts Rancho Alegre with Baldomero Cuellar, Austin’s only Tejano music program on FM Radio. Rancho Alegre features classics, new releases, and rare tracks along with interviews with Tejano and Conjunto artists and community organizations and can be heard every Monday from 9-10 a.m. on KOOP 91.7 FM in Austin and online at koop.org. Learn more about Rancho Alegre at RanchoAlegreRadio.org.
LeMoine released a statement about joining Tejano Nation as a contributor.
“I’m deeply appreciative for the opportunity to contribute content from Rancho Alegre Radio and Austin Vida on Tejanonation.net. Here’s a little about what I bring to the site:
Rancho Alegre Radio, the brainchild of my partner, Baldomero “El Parrandero” Cuellar, first hit the interwebs in 2008, and is truly unique in La Onda. We post in-depth, intimate interviews we’ve recorded all over Texas with legends, veterans, and up-and-coming artists, along with other information that furthers our non-profit’s mission of preserving and promoting Tejano and Conjunto music. I believe the hardcore fans in Tejano Nation’s audience will love hearing the likes of Roberto Pulido, Ramon Ayala, Freddie Martinez, Little Joe, and Gilberto Perez (just to name a few) tell their stories in their own words, along with an exploration of their catalog in a serious journalistic manner like you would hear on public radio. We also have our own FM radio show on Monday mornings from 9-10 a.m. on KOOP 91.7 FM in Austin and streams around the world on koop.org.
Tejanonation.net visitors can also look forward to the weekly music previews I write for Austin Vida reposted here on the site. Since Ian Morales gave me the opportunity back in 2012, I’ve written several articles each week with a look at upcoming Tejano and Conjunto events in the Live Music Capital of the World, including brief information about the band in addition to the who, what, when, where, and how much.
Other stuff may come up too, so stay tuned! It’s good to be here and many thanks to Romeo for reaching out.”
