SAN ANTONIO – A YouTube video surfaced over the weekend alleging that A.B. Quintanilla dissed Ricky Valenz, when both stars performed on the same night at the 2015 Tejano Explosion in San Antonio last week.
The video uploaded by Thomas Lozano begins with a question, “Why is TEJANO so stagnate? NO UNITY!”
It goes on to show portions of Valenz’ performance complete with smoke and confetti. The video then shows Quintanilla speaking to the crowd.
“Big boys have respect for big boys,” Quintanilla said after performing with Erick Sanchez Tovar from Grupo Massore.
“Now that I’ve got that over,” Quintanilla continued. “I’m sorry I don’t got no confetti for you, no fancy smoke, all I’ve got for you is just hits.”
Quintanilla later said in an April 24 Instagram post promoting an upcoming show, “It’s all goin’ down San Anto! We will be bringing hit after hit. No smoke, fancy screens or confetti blowers! #respectorgetsmacked.”
