Kacey Musgraves is taking her Texas roots in a new direction with a Spanish-language reimagining of “Uncertain, TX,”teaming up with Texas norteño and Tejano legends Intocable.
Released October 5, 2026, the new version gives Musgraves’ Texas-inspired song a fresh cultural perspective while marking a major milestone in her career: it is the first time she has recorded an entire song in Spanish.
The collaboration brings together two distinct but closely connected sides of Texas music, with Musgraves’ country sound meeting Intocable’s signature norteño style.
Kacey Musgraves Sings “Uncertain, TX” Entirely in Spanish
Originally released on Musgraves’ May 2026 album Middle of Nowhere, “Uncertain, TX” became a Texas radio favorite. The original recording features Texas icon Willie Nelson and reached No. 1 in the state.
For the new version, Musgraves sings the song completely in Spanish and shares vocals with Intocable frontman Ricky Muñoz.
The recording builds on the cumbia-inspired, borderland character of the original while adding Intocable’s norteño influence.
Although Musgraves has previously collaborated with música mexicana artists—including Carin León on “Lost in Translation”—the new “Uncertain, TX” represents her first complete song performed in Spanish.
Intocable Brings Its Norteño-Texas Heritage to the Track
Formed in Zapata, Texas, in 1994, Intocable has spent more than three decades helping define the sound of modern norteño and Tejano music.
The band’s involvement gives the new recording an especially strong Texas connection. Muñoz was drawn to Musgraves’ storytelling and the cultural connection behind the song, making the collaboration a natural meeting point between Texas country and música mexicana.
For Musgraves, the project represents the cultural diversity that has long shaped Texas music.
She described the collaboration as “a fun example of the cultural melting pot that makes our state so great.”
That spirit is reflected in the recording, which doesn’t simply translate “Uncertain, TX” into Spanish—it reimagines the song through a musical connection between Texas country and the norteño tradition.
A Natural Extension of Middle of Nowhere
The Spanish-language “Uncertain, TX” also fits naturally within the broader musical world Musgraves created with Middle of Nowhere. The album incorporates elements of Texas country, norteño, Tejano, zydeco, bluegrass and pop, reflecting the diverse musical traditions found across the Lone Star State.
The album debuted at No. 1 on the Top Album chart, while “Uncertain, TX” established itself as one of the project’s notable Texas-centered songs. Now, with Intocable joining Musgraves, the song moves even further into the musical crossroads that inspired it.
A Texas Musical Connection
The collaboration is particularly significant for Tejano and música mexicana audiences because it places one of Texas’ most internationally recognized country artists alongside one of the state’s most influential norteño/Tejano groups.
It also highlights the increasingly fluid boundaries between country, Tejano, norteño and other música mexicana styles—genres that have shared Texas audiences, musicians and cultural influences for generations.
For Intocable, the project is also a relatively rare collaboration with an English-speaking country artist, further expanding the band’s connection with audiences outside the traditional norteño and Tejano world.
“Uncertain, TX” Gets a New Voice
The Spanish version arrives as Musgraves continues her Middle of Nowhere tour, which includes Texas stops in Houston, Austin and Dallas.
The new recording is now available on major streaming platforms, including Spotify, alongside the original English-language version.
With Musgraves singing entirely in Spanish and Intocable adding its unmistakable norteño sound, “Uncertain, TX” becomes more than a bilingual experiment—it is a musical meeting of two Texas traditions.
Musgraves’ country roots and Intocable’s música mexicana heritage come together on a song that celebrates the cultural melting pot of Texas while giving one of her signature tracks a distinctly new identity.
