Tejano icon Jay Perez is keeping the momentum rolling with the release of the official music video for “Te Quiero Amar,” the latest single from his acclaimed album Le Seguiremos.
The upbeat track serves as the third single from the project, following the success of “Incompetente En El Amor” and the album’s title track, both of which helped solidify Le Seguiremos as one of Perez’s strongest recent releases. With “Te Quiero Amar,” the San Antonio native continues to build on that success while staying true to the signature sound that has made him one of the most beloved voices in Tejano music.
Written by Perez’s wife and longtime backup singer, Roxanne Perez, “Te Quiero Amar” is an energetic cumbia driven by infectious rhythms, a memorable melody, and lyrics that celebrate enduring love. The song blends traditional Tejano influences with a fresh, dancefloor-ready energy that resonates with longtime fans and new listeners alike.
“The rhythm of ‘Te Quiero Amar’ brings the energy, but the lyrics tell the story—this song is about everlasting love,” Perez shared. “It’s that perfect mix of a dance floor vibe and a heartfelt message—something that people can celebrate and relate to.”
The newly released music video brings that spirit to life through vibrant visuals that complement the song’s uplifting message. The video was produced, directed, and edited by MikeShotIt, the creative moniker of Michael Salgado Jr., whose work captures the joyful energy and romantic themes at the heart of the song.

Known to fans as “The Voice” or La Voz, Jay Perez has built one of the most respected careers in Tejano music. Revered for his smooth multi-octave baritone, Perez helped pioneer a distinctive sound that blends traditional Tejano and conjunto music with rhythm and blues, classic soul, and country influences.
Perez began his musical journey in 1985 as a drummer and background vocalist for the San Antonio-based group Mysterio. His powerful vocals soon propelled him into the spotlight as lead singer for The Latin Breed and later David Lee Garza y Los Musicales before launching a highly successful solo career in the early 1990s.
As a solo artist, Perez became one of the defining voices of Tejano music during the decade, scoring major hits such as “Ven A Mi” and “Lo Que Yo Tengo.” His impact on the genre has been recognized through numerous accolades, including eight Latin Grammy nominations and seven Tejano Music Awards for Male Vocalist of the Year between 2000 and 2008. In 2010, he earned another Male Vocalist of the Year award while also receiving the prestigious Male Vocalist of the Decade honor.
With the release of the “Te Quiero Amar” music video, Perez continues to demonstrate why he remains one of Tejano music’s most enduring and influential artists. As Le Seguiremos continues to generate excitement, the latest visual offering gives fans another reason to celebrate the timeless voice and heartfelt music that have defined his career for more than three decades.
