The rising force of Grupo Entrego and San Antonio sensation Jenny B are turning up the romance with the release of their brand new single, “Dame,” available now on all digital platforms as of May 16.
Blending passionate lyrics, heartfelt storytelling, and irresistible Tejano rhythms, “DAME” delivers a powerful message about love, vulnerability, and finding the courage to open your heart to someone special.
“Dame una oportunidad, para entregarte mi corazón…”
The collaboration pairs the modern energy and tight musicianship of Grupo Entrego with Jenny B’s unmistakable vocals and emotional delivery, creating a track designed for both the dance floor and the heart.
Written by Grupo Entrego frontman Chris Martinez and produced by drummer and co-owner Erick Martinez, the single was mastered and engineered by Mario Ortiz Jr. at Studio 830 in San Antonio, Texas.
Fans got an exclusive first taste of the song during a live performance at New Beer Depot in San Antonio on May 15, where Tejano Nation contributor Lawrence “NDO” Casarez caught up with Jenny B and Chris Martinez to talk about the collaboration and the story behind the song.
“So excited, because honestly, you know, this is a really different type of song for me,” Jenny B shared. “It’s such a good song. I think the people are gonna really love it.”
The Tejano Music Award-winning singer said the collaboration was driven more by authenticity and heart than popularity metrics.
“A lot of people tell me, well, they’re kind of new. Yeah, but you know, it’s not always about the numbers,” she said. “It’s about the music. And they’re good people, good humble people. They’re family-oriented. And, you know, why not?”
For Chris Martinez, “Dame” is deeply personal. The singer-songwriter revealed he originally wrote the song more than two decades ago after meeting his wife.
“The inspiration for this song was when I first met my wife,” Martinez explained. “I’ve had it since 2000. And I just decided to bring it back to life. Now I’m back in the industry. This song right here, it’s special to me and special to the band.”
Martinez described the single as “a song of love and passion,” centered around someone pleading for a chance to prove their love.
“It’s a ranchera. It’s a good dancing song,” he said. “And we couldn’t ask none other than Jenny B. I love the way she sings. She’s, to me, in my eyes, she’s a superstar. So I figured she’s the one to do it.”
The San Antonio premiere also marked a strategic step for Grupo Entrego as the band continues expanding its presence throughout South Texas.
“We’re trying to get out here down south,” Martinez said. “We’re trying to get people to hear our music. We’re trying to get a little bit more popular out here on this side so we can start playing music for the people here down south.”
Known by fans as “La Tejana Barbie,” Jenny B has quickly become one of Tejano music’s brightest young stars. The San Antonio-based artist earned the “Best New Female Artist” honor at the Tejano Music Awards following the success of her debut album Mujer Sensual, gaining recognition for blending Latin pop and cumbia influences with traditional Tejano roots.
Meanwhile, Grupo Entrego continues building momentum since forming in West Texas in 2023. Founded by Chris Martinez alongside his daughter Amber Martinez, who provides backup vocals, the band has developed a reputation for combining traditional Tejano soul with a modern edge and energetic live performances.
Martinez also confirmed that a music video for “Dame” is already in the plans.
“Eventually we will have a music video,” he said. “We’ll get with Jenny B and we’ll coordinate something to do a video.”
With emotional lyrics, dance-ready rhythms, and undeniable chemistry between both artists, “Dame” is shaping up to be one of this summer’s standout Tejano collaborations.
