The Tejano music community is mourning the loss of Rachel Gaona, wife of Tejano Music Awards Event Planner/Coordinator and Tejano Music Awards National Radio Show host Bino Gaona, better known to fans as Bino G. Rachel passed away on May 9, 2026, at the age of 57 following a months-long illness.

Bino G shared the heartbreaking news through an emotional social media tribute, reflecting on their final moments together before her passing.

“We shared a tender kiss and exchanged loving words before drifting off to sleep, unaware that it would be our final farewell,” Bino G wrote. “Though your memory will forever be etched in my heart, I wish you could have stayed with me longer.”

He added that Rachel passed peacefully in her sleep and said he takes comfort knowing “she had ascended to spiritual rest without suffering.”

In a follow-up video message posted May 13, Bino G personally thanked fans, friends, Tejano artists, and supporters who have reached out with condolences, prayers, and donations through a GoFundMe campaign established to assist with funeral expenses and medical bills.

“There’s so many people that have reached out over the past few days about my wife’s passing,” he said. “I truly love and respect each and every one of you for sending me your unconditional love and condolences.”

Bino G revealed Rachel had spent six months hospitalized beginning in October 2025 and had only recently returned home, where her recovery appeared to be progressing positively.

“She only had a 5% chance of living when she was in ICU back in October,” he shared. “But progress with home care and everything was looking so great. She was off insulin. We had gone to her heart doctor, and things were looking better.”

According to Bino G, Rachel passed unexpectedly in the early morning hours after the couple exchanged “I love you” before going to sleep.

“I found her peacefully asleep, passed away here at her home,” he said. “I’m at peace knowing that she was at peace as well when I found her.”

While no autopsy was performed, Bino G believes her blood sugar may have dropped suddenly during the night.

Despite the grief, he said Rachel wanted those who loved her to celebrate her life with joy rather than sadness.

“One thing she didn’t want, she didn’t want everybody sobbing around,” he explained. “She wanted everybody to just remember me and just have fun. That’s what she wanted.”

Funeral arrangements for Rachel Gaona have been announced at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas.

Services for Rachel Gaona are scheduled as follows:

  • Visitation and Viewing: May 20 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Memorial Service: May 21 at 10:30 a.m. (time subject to confirmation)
  • Location: Palms Funeral Home, 2300 E. Mulberry St., Angleton, Texas
  • A reception will follow at 1325 Fair Dr., Angleton, Texas

A GoFundMe page created to assist the Gaona family described Rachel as “a loving mother, family member, and friend whose kindness, strength, and caring spirit touched so many lives.”

The fundraiser states that donations will help cover funeral expenses, memorial arrangements, and outstanding hospital bills following the family’s unexpected loss.

As tributes continue pouring in from across the Tejano music world, many are remembering Rachel not only as Bino G’s beloved wife, but also as a cherished presence within the Tejano community whose resilience and warmth left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
