Award-winning, multi-genre vocalist Estani Frizzell is returning to her roots—and doing so with purpose, passion, and a powerful message.
Raised in a household where Conjunto music was more than just sound—it was tradition—Estani’s foundation was shaped by the daily rhythms of KEDA Radio and the influence of her grandmother, Rosita Lopez, a respected Conjunto singer in the 1960s and ’70s. Lopez made sure the genre remained the heartbeat of their home, instilling in Estani a deep appreciation for its cultural significance and storytelling power.
Today, Estani is not only preserving that legacy—she’s evolving it.
In a bold new release from CHR Records, Estani lends her voice to a reimagined version of the Conjunto standard “El Burro Pardo,” alongside Conjunto legend Gilberto Perez Jr. Produced by Rick Garcia, the track takes a familiar narrative rooted in traditional machismo themes and flips it on its head.

This modern interpretation places Estani at the forefront, offering a female perspective that transforms the song into a declaration of empowerment and self-expression. It’s a refreshing shift that challenges outdated norms while staying true to the essence of Conjunto music.
“El Burro Pardo” becomes more than just a cover—it’s a cultural conversation bridging generations. By honoring the original while reshaping its message, the collaboration highlights the evolving role of women in a genre historically dominated by male voices.

Estani’s involvement brings authenticity and depth to the project, rooted in her lifelong connection to Conjunto while embracing a contemporary lens that resonates with today’s audience.
Beyond the music, Estani continues to explore her heritage through film. She is currently in production on her upcoming musical documentary, Tú De Mí Te Acordarás, a deeply personal project that examines identity, cultural roots, and the enduring influence of Conjunto music. The film will spotlight the generational impact of artists like her grandmother and the ongoing evolution of the genre.
With her latest release and upcoming documentary, Estani Frizzell is not only honoring where she comes from—she’s helping shape where Conjunto music is headed next.
