“Selena: From Texas To The World” runs through May 11, 2026, with new artifacts including the legendary outfit from her record-breaking Houston Astrodome performance

LOS ANGELES, CA — Due to overwhelming demand, the GRAMMY Museum has officially extended its celebrated pop-up exhibit, Selena: From Texas To The World, through May 11, 2026—solidifying its place as one of the most successful exhibits in the museum’s 18-year history.

Originally opening on January 15, the exhibit has drawn thousands of fans from across California and beyond, all eager to celebrate the enduring legacy of Tejano icon Selena.

Beginning March 18, visitors will be treated to a major new addition: Selena’s iconic purple jumpsuit worn during her unforgettable performance at the Houston Astrodome on February 26, 1995. The concert drew more than 66,000 fans, setting a new attendance record for the Queen of Tejano music.

Designed by Selena herself, the purple bell-bottomed jumpsuit and matching jacket became one of her most recognizable looks, later immortalized in the 1997 biopic Selena, starring Jennifer Lopez. The outfit will replace the elegant white gown Selena wore to the 1994 Grammy Awards, which remained on display through March 15.

The exhibit marks the first time many of Selena’s personal artifacts have been displayed outside the Selena Museum in Corpus Christi, offering fans an intimate look into her life, artistry, and trailblazing career. Curated in collaboration with Suzette Quintanilla, CEO of Q Productions and executor of the Selena Estate, the collection highlights the singer’s influence on music, fashion, and culture.

“We are deeply moved by the outpouring of love from Selena fans who have visited this special exhibit,” Suzette Quintanilla shared. “Its extension is a powerful testament to her enduring spirit, carried forward by fans across generations.”

GRAMMY Museum curator Kelsey Goelz echoed that sentiment, noting the exhibit’s powerful impact on visitors and the importance of preserving Selena’s legacy for future audiences.

Among the exhibit’s standout pieces are the outfit worn on the cover of Amor Prohibido, her Grammy Award and Lifetime Achievement Award, and instruments played by members of Los Dinos, including A.B. Quintanilla III and Chris Pérez. Fans can also view Selena’s microphone—still marked with her signature red lipstick—along with hand-drawn fashion designs from her teenage years and even her personal cell phone.

In another milestone moment, Amor Prohibido, originally released in 1994, will be inducted into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame during the Recording Academy’s ceremony on May 8, 2026.

More than three decades after her rise to stardom, Selena’s influence continues to resonate worldwide. From her chart-topping hits like “Como La Flor” and “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” to her bold fashion and cultural impact, she remains a symbol of empowerment and pride for Mexican-American communities and fans across generations.
