Tejano star Jennifer Peña has canceled two upcoming South Texas performances scheduled for later this month, according to a note shared on the singer’s official social media channels.

The shows, set for March 20 in Corpus Christi and March 21 in McAllen, were part of her ongoing El Camino Tour. In a message to fans, Peña expressed disappointment over the decision while assuring ticket holders they will receive full refunds.

DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL, WE UNFORTUNATELY HAD TO CANCEL OUR MCALLEN AND CORPUS DATES. WE ARE DEEPLY SADDENED AND WE SINCERELY APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. WE APPRECIATE YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL SOON. ALL TICKETS WILL BE FULLY REFUNDED,” the statement read.

The South Texas dates had already been rescheduled once before. Originally planned for October, the concerts were moved to March as part of Peña’s continuing return to the stage following her long-awaited comeback.

A statement from Peña’s management team was shared with Tejano Nation, “Jennifer wants to extend her deepest and most sincere apologies to her fans in Corpus Christi and McAllen. Being on stage with you, singing, dancing, and sharing unforgettable moments with every fan in every seat is amongst the most cherished moments for her. Your support, energy, and love mean the world to her.

Unfortunately, this situation could not be resolved despite every effort made. Please know this decision was not taken lightly, and Jennifer is truly heartbroken that she could not be there with you as planned.

We remain committed to moving forward with future US and Mexico dates. Thank you for your understanding and for continuing to support Jennifer.”

The performances were tied to Peña’s recent album, Superación, released in October. The project, which topped the iTunes Latin Albums chart, marks her first full studio album since 2007’s Dicen Que El Tiempo.

After stepping away from the spotlight for 16 years to focus on family, Peña reignited her musical career in 2023 with a series of well-received singles, including AtadaWakala, and the empowering comeback anthem Fuerte, which does not appear on the new album.

Known around the world as “The Princess of Tejano,” Peña’s influence spans generations of fans. Rising to fame as a teenager with Jennifer y Los Jetz, she went on to deliver enduring hits such as El Dolor de Tu PresenciaAbrázame y Bésame, and Hasta el Fin del Mundo. Over the course of her career, Peña has sold more than 10 million records worldwide and earned nominations from both the Grammy Awards and the Latin Grammy Awards.

While the cancellations are disappointing for fans in South Texas, Peña’s team expressed hope that they will be able to reconnect with audiences in the region soon as the El Camino Tour continues.
