It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of my husband, Anthony Hernandez, on March 6, 2026. Anthony was a Grammy Award winner, a Tejano Roots Hall of Famer, and a legendary musician whose talent touched lives around the world.
I spent the last two years by his side as his primary nurse during his time in hospice, and I am grateful that his final months were filled with peace, love, and closeness. Anthony leaves behind a large and loving family, including his brothers and sisters, his son, four stepchildren, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
To honor his legacy and the impact he made on and off the stage, we will be holding a one-day-only open casket visitation to allow everyone he touched to find closure.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has contributed to his memorial fund. For those who wish to support the family during this time, contributions can be made here: https://gofund.me/290a7aed9
Anthony’s career was truly remarkable. From starting his first band at age 14 to performing with icons like Sunny and The Sunliners, The Coasters, and Joe Posada, his versatility as a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist was unmatched. Whether he was winning “Most Promising Band” with Los Dudes or being recognized as Keyboard Player of the Year, his passion for music—Tejano, Jazz, and R&B alike—remained his driving force.
Thank you for your continued support and for helping us keep his music and memory alive.
With love,
