A second lawsuit has been filed against the Norteño band Ramón Ayala y Sus Bravos del Norte and its affiliates in Hidalgo County State Court, escalating legal troubles that first surfaced earlier this month, according to reports from The Buzbee Law Firm.
The new lawsuit, filed in February 20, 2026, by attorneys Tony Buzbee and Crystal Del Toro, is on behalf of a longtime professional vocalist and guitarist who worked closely with the band. The complaint alleges frequent workplace sexual harassment and multiple instances of sexual assault by Ramón Ayala Jr., the son of the group’s founder.
Allegations Detailed in Court Filing
According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff claims Ayala Jr. routinely walked around nude on the tour bus, sat on band members while nude, physically restrained individuals, and engaged in forced kissing and licking. The allegations describe what the filing characterizes as a hostile and abusive work environment during tour activities.
The second complaint follows a separate $25 million lawsuit filed on February 17, 2026, by the same law firm on behalf of a former photographer and videographer identified as “John Doe #1.” That earlier suit similarly accused Ayala Jr. of sexual assault and alleged cocaine abuse during a 2025 tour.
Both lawsuits name band founder Ramón Ayala, though the specific accusations center on his son.
Response From Ramón Ayala Sr.
In response to the initial allegations, Ayala Sr. issued a public statement denying wrongdoing and defending his family’s legacy:
“The media reported—as is their job—news that deeply hurts my musical group, my fans, and my Family. We live in a world where freedom of expression is for everyone; unfortunately, in an eagerness to obtain attention, recognition, or financial compensation, some people—without foundation—attempt to take advantage and stain the legacy of an artist who came from nothing with humility, effort, and sacrifice. Due to legal matters, I cannot and should not give interviews at this time; our team of lawyers is working to clarify the facts, and God will be with all of us. To my detractors: as the provider for my home and a Father, I wish Peace in your hearts, because those who act unhealthily for financial gain at the cost of others’ pain are in great need of God’s Love.”
The band and family have stated they are working with legal counsel to clarify the facts and have denied the allegations.
Attorney Tony Buzbee Speaks Out
Buzbee, known for handling high-profile litigation—including cases involving music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs—described the allegations as unprecedented in his experience.
“I’ve handled some of the largest and most high-profile sexual assault cases in the United States. I’ve never seen the type of conduct alleged in this case. It is the most egregious and outrageous that I have seen. Something has to be done to stop this, and we intend to do it.”
Buzbee has also indicated that at least two additional accusers may come forward as the legal proceedings continue.
Legacy Under Scrutiny
Founded in the early 1970s, Ramón Ayala y Sus Bravos del Norte is widely regarded as one of the most influential groups in regional Mexican music history. The band has earned international acclaim, multiple Grammy Awards, and a devoted fan base across the United States, Mexico, and Latin America. Ramón Ayala himself is famously known as the “King of the Accordion.”
The lawsuits are currently pending in Texas court. As the cases move forward, the allegations cast a significant shadow over one of Norteño music’s most enduring legacies.
