The legacy of Tejano legend Jimmy Gonzalez is set to shine brighter than ever in 2026.
In a heartfelt and wide-ranging social media video, Mike Gonzalez — son of the late Tejano icon and a torchbearer of his father’s musical vision — officially announced the return of the Forever Jimmy G Music Festival, with its next stop landing in downtown San Antonio on March 14. The event marks a major expansion for the tribute festival, which will now begin touring throughout Texas, and potentially beyond.
“When our father passed in 2018, we were able to have the Forever Jimmy G Music Festival one year, and then COVID kicked in and pretty much messed everything up,” Gonzalez shared. “We had to wait for things to settle back in and get back on track.”
After a successful return last year in Los Fresnos, Mike Gonzalez says the time is right to take the festival on the road — starting with one of Tejano music’s most important markets.

“March the 14th. San Antonio, Texas. Downtown San Antonio — Market Square, somewhere in there. The Forever Jimmy G Music Festival is coming to town,” he announced.
While the official lineup has not yet been revealed, Gonzalez promised fans a powerful bill.
“We’ve got seven bands already locked in — heavy hitters,” he said, adding that contracts are signed and deposits have been sent. The first promotional flyer announcing the festival is expected next week, followed by a second flyer unveiling the full lineup, vendor information, sponsorship opportunities, and pre-sale bracelet details.
The all-day, all-ages event is scheduled to open at 11 a.m., with the first band taking the stage at noon. In addition to live music, the festival will feature food vendors, a kids play area, and the highly anticipated Jimmy G Museum, showcasing rare memorabilia including guitars, Grammys, clothing, and photographs from the Tejano icon’s storied career.

“If it’s for Jimmy G, it’s going to get done right — and it’s going to get done big,” Gonzalez said.
Alongside the festival announcement, Mike Gonzalez also delivered big news on the music front. Mike Gonzalez & The Iconiczz are gearing up to release their brand-new album, The Legacy Continues, marking their debut release with legendary Tejano label Freddie Records, after signing with the label last June.
“February — the new Iconiczz album is going to drop. The Legacy Continues is what it’s titled,” Gonzalez revealed. “We’re pretty much almost done mixing and mastering. The album will be out the first couple of days of February.”
He didn’t hold back his excitement or gratitude, calling the project “a badass album” and thanking engineer Mariano Herrera, his brother, and Freddie Martinez Jr. along with the entire Freddie Records team.
“They’ve got all the heavy hitters at Freddie Records — Siggno, Jay Perez, David Lee Garza y Los Musicales, Gary Hobbs, La Fiebre — everybody,” Gonzalez said. “Thank you for what you do for the Iconiczz.”
With a new album on the way and the Forever Jimmy G Music Festival set to make a major impact in San Antonio, 2026 is shaping up to be a defining year for Mike Gonzalez & The Iconiczz — and a powerful continuation of a legacy that still moves Tejano music forward.
Fans are encouraged to watch for the official festival flyer next week and to secure pre-sale bracelets once they become available. As Gonzalez made clear, this celebration isn’t just about remembering Jimmy G — it’s about carrying his spirit of unity, mentorship, and great music into the future.
