After several years away from the spotlight, singer-songwriter Pee Wee is officially back — grounded, inspired, and ready to reconnect with fans through his upcoming EP, Del Border Pal Mundo. The highly anticipated project marks a return to his musical roots while embracing the evolution he’s experienced as an artist, songwriter, and producer.
During a candid in-studio interview with Mando San Roman on Tejano Nation Radio affiliate Super Tejano 102.1 FM, Pee Wee reflected on his journey, from early fame to stepping away to rediscover his passion.
“I’ve played with a lot of different sounds throughout my career as a solo artist,” Pee Wee shared. “But one always returns to what one is passionate about. I’ve always been passionate about cumbia and the fusion of that… so I’m returning to my musical roots.”
That return is led by the EP’s first single, “Solito Me Empiné,” a modern cumbia track produced by Oscar Cadena and co-written with Ana Sof. Recorded during an intensive writing camp in Mexico City, the song blends catchy melodies with relatable storytelling — a hallmark of Pee Wee’s sound.
“It talks about a relationship where you knew there were red flags from the beginning,” he explained. “But you still moved forward. Nobody’s fault — it was your own.”

Rather than dropping the project all at once, Pee Wee plans to release one track per month, allowing fans to experience each chapter individually. “The songs are ready — mixed, mastered, and ready to go,” he said. “We’re launching everything little by little, and I’m excited because it’s what I love.”
The EP title, Del Border Pal Mundo, reflects both his roots and ambitions. Raised in Texas by parents from Nuevo León, Pee Wee spoke warmly about his upbringing in a hardworking immigrant family and how those early experiences shaped him.
“My parents taught us great principles — you’ve got to work for what you want,” he said, recalling days working in the fields alongside his family. “Music was always part of my life. My dad was a drummer in a norteño-conjunto group, and everywhere he went, I went.”
The interview also touched briefly on a difficult moment in Pee Wee’s life — his August 2025 arrest in the Rio Grande Valley on suspicion of driving under the influence. Addressing it with honesty, he emphasized accountability and using the experience as a lesson for others.
“As a public figure, it’s important to spread the word,” he said. “Don’t let it happen to you. Be responsible. Gracias a Dios, nothing major happened.”
Looking ahead, Pee Wee is focused on rebuilding momentum and reconnecting with audiences. Alongside the EP, he’s launching a new tour aptly titled “Del Valle Pa’l Mundo,” with dates already being booked and February marking the official kickoff.
“Restableciéndome en la música — getting back out there,” he said. “There’s some really good stuff coming.”
Throughout the conversation, Mando San Roman praised Pee Wee for staying humble despite decades in the industry — a sentiment the artist credits to his upbringing.
“Primero el ser humano antes del artista,” Pee Wee said. “Treat people how you want to be treated. That’s a rule of life.”
With Del Border Pal Mundo, Pee Wee isn’t just making a comeback — he’s reaffirming who he is as an artist, a storyteller, and a proud representative of the border culture that shaped him. From cumbia rhythms to global ambitions, this new chapter signals that Pee Wee is ready to go further than ever before.
