Maren Morris paid a heartfelt tribute to Selena Quintanilla-Perez with a moving performance during “A GRAMMY Celebration of Latin Music,” which aired December 28, 2025, on CBS and is now streaming on Paramount+. The special honored the enduring legacy of Latin music including the Queen of Tejano Music and spotlighted her immeasurable impact across genres, generations, and cultures.
Taking the stage alongside a star-studded lineup that included Gloria Estefan, Luis Fonsi, and Andrea Bocelli, Morris performed Selena’s English-language hit “I Could Fall In Love,” delivering an intimate and emotional rendition that resonated deeply with audiences.
Ahead of her performance, the Texas-born singer-songwriter expressed her profound admiration for Selena—not only as a vocalist, but as a cultural trailblazer whose influence transcended musical boundaries.
“I mean, I think just the way that she bent through genres very seamlessly has always inspired me,” Morris shared. “And growing up in Texas, we definitely have a very big heartbeat for her, just being from that state. Also, she was so beautiful. Her eye for, like, fashion and beauty was so ahead of its time. I feel like she was really just a trailblazer in all of the ways.”
Morris also spoke candidly about the emotional weight of performing the song during such a meaningful tribute.
“I mean, it’s deeply emotional. I’ve always loved this song in particular,” she said. “I love that it’s a ballad. It feels very, like, 90s classic ballad to me, but then her voice is so… I love when she goes raspy and almost, like, whispers in the verses of this song. So it’s just a really emotional performance that she’s giving, and so I’ll do my best to give it my best go. But it’s a really special song, and the band arrangement they worked up is really gorgeous.”
Selena’s English crossover album Dreaming of You remains a landmark moment in music history, and Morris’ performance served as a powerful reminder of the late icon’s versatility, vulnerability, and vocal brilliance.
“A GRAMMY Celebration of Latin Music” stands as a tribute not only to Selena’s legacy, but to the artists she continues to inspire decades later. The special is currently available to stream on Paramount+.
